Join us on our adventure!!

Luke and Toni's RS Best of Turkey

September 2, 2019

About Our Motivation

Luke and I are son and mom. We wanted to travel to a Muslim country to meet the people and learn about the culture. We also wanted to walk where people walked more than two thousand years ago. We wanted to see where the East meets the West; where one generation can connect with another. Click below to see a description of the tour.

Transportation

When you take a Rick Steves tour, you are responsible for getting yourself to where the tour starts and home from where the tour ends. This makes it easy to extend your travel on both ends. Once the tour starts, you travel from place to place on a comfortable bus,  boat, or  train accompanied by your tour guide. We were given an Istanbulkart on the the first day. This is a plastic card that allows access to all public transportation.  We also received a museum pass that covered all of the sites on the tour. It is good for 15 days, so we were able to continue using it even after the tour ended.

Accommodations

Hotels on a Rick Steves tour are always clean, comfortable, and located right near the action. They are typically small and family owned. On this tour, the hotels range from family owned to business hotel, to luxury resort. You will get the names of your first and last hotel shortly after signing up and then the rest of the list about a month before the tour starts. And don't worry, there is always a western toilet nearby.

On a Rick Steves tour, you will travel with a small group of  up to 28 tour mates. Tour mates will be a lot like you, interested in learning and immersing themselves in a new culture.
