Final Thoughts
Luke and I had a fabulous time on this tour. I usually travel alone, so I was worried that I would revert to "mom" mode, instead of focusing on the trip. Instead, I grew to know my son from a different angle and I have gained a travel companion. Seeing the awe and joy that I feel reflected on his face is priceless.

Turkey is a beautiful country that exceeded my expectations. Ancient, medieval, and modern historical sites abound. There are breathtaking coasts, mountains, and desert landscapes. The culture is rich and colorful like a tapestry. The people are open and generous and want the same life that we desire as Americans: a secular, representative government and life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If only every American had the means and desire to travel, there would be less fear and more brotherhood.

The most valuable possessions that I have are my travel memories. I didn't know that I was a traveler until my first trip that focused on learning. I was very lucky that I made this discovery as soon as I did. My list of "must-sees" seems longer than I have time. I take choosing the next place I travel and the how I travel very seriously. This tour was my third Rick Steves tour. I align very well with the style and philosophy of Rick Steves Europe and will continue to travel with them. What's next, you ask?
